Newbow Aerospace nitrogen charging cabinets

In the latest issue of Aviation Week's 'Inside MRO' publication, Newbow Aerospace was invited to provide a contribution to the marketplace about its latest products and company developments:

What types of ground support equipment products and services does Newbow Aerospace provide, and for what types of customers?

Newbow Aerospace is at the forefront of the design and manufacture of ground support equipment, including: nitrogen and oxygen carts; wheel and brake change trailers; wheel handling and storage solutions; pneumatic hoses; and tyre and strut service tooling for the global aviation industry, including commercial and military customers. In 2024, the company delivered a record trading year with more than 75% of its manufacturing output exported to customers worldwide, including airlines, MROs and air forces. Newbow has approved supplier status with major industry stakeholders such as Airbus, Airbus Military, Boeing, BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin and NATO.

Examples of territories where Newbow is seeing growth in demand include the United Arab Emirates and Australia, both of which have seen strong organic growth and strategic investment in their respective aviation industries. Newbow’s ‘Made in the UK’ tag is very well respected by its customer base as a mark of the 60-year old company’s quality and heritage.

What are some of the newest GSE products/services being offered at Newbow Aerospace and what is unique or interesting about them?

In early 2024, Newbow innovated a solar-integrated wheel and brake change trailer into the GSE market, which was the first trailer to incorporate a solar-panelled roof, which eliminates the need for a tow vehicle for power. Fully independent night-time operations are possible thanks to 12-hour continuous power generated from the flexible, 130W roof-mounted lightweight panel. Following the launch of this product to Aer Lingus, Newbow has received orders from other airlines in response to a growing demand for more sustainable solutions.

We have also seen a number of major operators switch to Newbow for their GSE requirements, due to the rugged durability and enhanced operational performance of our equipment, which has improved health and safety features built-in by design, to protect operatives. As a result of our continual product developments, there has been increased demand for Newbow’s premium range of tailor-made nitrogen and oxygen carts and wheel and brake change trailers, with a particular uplift in markets across the Middle East and Australia.

Is there any recent or upcoming news from Newbow Aerospace that would be of interest to our readers?

Newbow has recently secured its biggest single customer order in the company’s 60-year history, from Saudia Technic. In support of the development of a new ‘MRO village’ in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Newbow was selected by Saudia Technic to manufacture 30 nitrogen service carts and 10 oxygen service carts, with the first shipment arriving in May.

Newbow has also boosted its manufacturing output with the addition of additional production personnel, so that its two factory units in the West Midlands are now operating at almost 100% capacity. The business anticipates further growth in 2025, following a record year in 2024. Newbow now supplies products to more than 300 airline, airport and MRO customers world-wide.

While challenges around cost, infrastructure, and workforce readiness remain, the long-term trajectory points toward smarter, greener and more efficient ground operations. For stakeholders across the aviation ecosystem, staying ahead of these trends will be essential to maintaining operational excellence and meeting sustainability targets.

For its part, Newbow Aerospace expects to see a significant rise in demand for GSE that incorporates lightweight, flexible solar panels, to help airlines, MROs and airport ground handling provides to deliver more sustainable ramp operations.
