Newbow celebrates 60th anniversary with record year
Posted on 26th November 2024
December sees leading UK manufacturer of aviation ground support equipment, Newbow Aerospace, celebrate its 60th anniversary, in what has been a record year for the company.
Increased demand from customers across the world for Newbow’s premium range of tailor-made nitrogen and oxygen carts and wheel and brake change trailers, in particular, has seen the Redditch-based manufacturer achieve its highest annual revenue since the business began trading in 1964.
A significant uplift in the supply of its products into the Australian aviation market has played a part in Newbow’s record performance, which has been further bolstered by a bulk order for its wheel and brake change trailers from a major new client in the Middle East.
Having taken on more production staff in 2024, Newbow has boosted its manufacturing output, so that its two factory units in Redditch are operating at almost 100% capacity. This year, the company has taken on a satellite storage facility locally, due to the volume of GSE being produced.
From the company’s early days in the 1960s when it introduced a range of precision tyre inflation and pressure checking equipment into the automotive and aviation industries, Newbow has developed steadily as an independently owned specialist in the manufacture of aviation ground support equipment, pressure gauges, tooling and instrumentation.
With approved supplier status achieved with major industry stakeholders, such as Airbus, Airbus Military, Boeing, BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin and NATO, Newbow has earned a trusted reputation for its premium quality ground support equipment. It now supplies products to more than 300 airline, airport and MRO customers world-wide.
With a strong order book for 2025, Newbow is forecasting continued growth in 2025, as the aviation industry responds to increased demand for global passenger travel and air freight.
Commenting on the company’s record achievement in its 60th year, Marc Green, Sales Director, said:
“This has been an exceptional year for Newbow Aerospace, which has reflected the upward trajectory of investment being made in global aviation. To achieve a record performance in our 60th year makes this significant anniversary all the more poignant and it’s testament to the hard work and dedication shown by all the team.
“The indications from customers are that 2025 will be equally busy and we expect to see further demand for GSE products which support more sustainable airport ramp operations. The use of lightweight, flexible solar panels on our wheel and brake trailers is one example of how we have moved forward in response to customer demands for greener products. Our focus on mitigating any future production risks by ensuring our material and component supply chain is 100% UK-sourced has also proven very beneficial.”
