Newbow Aerospace provide bespoke tyre charging kit to Qantas Airways.
December 2011 – Over the past 12 Months, Newbow Aerospace Ltd have been working closely with Qantas Airways Tooling Division (Australia) to offer a solution for fast, safe and cost effective aircraft tyre inflating.
Whilst Newbow Aerospace currently offer a wide variety of tyre inflation equipment that already met Qantas’ specified request, it was decided that the kit should also be compatible with existing tooling that is used at numerous line stations across Australia.
During the past 12 Months, a dedicated team of personnel within Qantas Airways and Newbow Aerospace have designed and trailed numerous tyre inflation kits across Australia with the help and support of various line stations and their associated engineers. The extensive trials and important end user feedback finally allowed both companies to settle on a design that offered speed, compatibility of existing tooling, accuracy and safety. The final design also allowed each individual kit to be compatible with the entire Qantas Airways fleet of aircraft.
The tyre inflation kit is supplied in a heavy duty protective Peli case that contains bespoke inner foam cutouts to ensure all equipment is securely housed. Within the case the operator will find two extra-long push on charging adapters coupled to 600mm high pressure hoses. The hoses will then quick connect to the all important hand held tyre inflation tool that is calibrated to 1.5% FSD and is fitted with an excess pressure relief valve that will eliminate over inflation. Each kit is fully calibrated, certified and traceable.
To date, Newbow Aerospace Ltd have provided fifteen new tyre inflation kits to Qantas Airways and are more than confident that the airline will quickly notice a higher efficiency rating during its tyre maintenance and service cycles.
